I have been just gushing over these amazing vegan lip balms lately! They are the best, and come in a delicious array of flavors (with Chai Spice and Root Beer being two of my favorites). I feel like I’m back in 6th grade, with my Bonnie Bell Lip Smackers, thinking that life couldn’t get much better than having Dr. Pepper lips. Oh how things change; )

Here is my list of favorite holiday gifts for the cook. Every year I search high and low for some of my favorite kitchen gadgets and appliances. This year it also included some fantastic Hurraw lip balms too (my new favorite obsession!).

Hurraw Lip Balms -In a word, amazing! They are silky soft, not waxy, they nourish dry chapped lips and are vegan too! Plus they come in amazing flavors like rootbeer, chai tea and almond!

I really can’t believe it’s December already. Where does the time go? I think I have an idea of where the month of November went for me. There were a couple of book proposals to tackle, a food cart remodel (check out thenativebowl.com to see it all live!), lots of family in from out of town (aka Thanksgiving), 2 TV segments and a cooking class for my daughter’s sorority. Whew, what a month! Believe it or not, I’m actually feeling pretty relaxed as we head into December.

Who doesn’t love pie? Pie is one of those special desserts, one that truly deserves it’s own category. Why? Because baking a pie is a labor of love. Although there are certainly shortcuts you can take, like using a store-bought crust or frozen fruit, most pies require some a certain amount of commitment and dedication.  From lovingly and patiently creating the dough from scratch, chilling it, finding the perfect fruit for the filling, assembling your masterpiece, rolling the dough and shaping the pie, to the careful and long baking time. It’s a very special labor of love.

Yes people! Everyday Dish TV has a brand new look. This video publication has reflected long and hard on our evolution and the future. We started with a simple idea to provide vegan recipes in a video log so anyone looking to change their eating habits can do so with ease and confidence. We started EDTV in 2008 with 10 videos and a homemade website. From our humble beginnings we have grown to well over 90 videos for public viewing and 85 videos in our Members Content and still growing!

A few months back Food Network was at our food cart filming for a veg TV special. Well I just got the word of when it’s going to air. First off, it’s called The Veg Edge, and it’s scheduled to air on Food Network’s Cooking Channel on Thursday, December 9 at 9 pm Eastern. As the date draws closer, the Food Channel should have a listing up on their website of the special, along with the time that it will air on the west coast (http://www.cookingchanneltv.com/).

Since it's 4th of July weekend and grilling is on everyone's minds, I thought that I would share a TV segment that I filmed recently for the show Better Portland. It's all about grilling, veggie-style. Of course if we'd had the time during the segment, I would have shown how to make homemade sausages, which would be my #1 pick. But if you're short on time, there are some great store-bought brands too.
